These days, many brides have vision boards well before they are engaged. This is the day they have been waiting for since they met that special person. It’s no wonder they will want to start planning, booking services and buying immediately once they finally do say “yes” to the big question.
So, what does that mean for picking a date, or two, for your wedding?
In my experience, a few things should go into whether you pick a single-day or two-day package for your wedding.
First, how many people are you going to have at your wedding? If this answer is 175 or less, typically you would be fine with a single-day package. This is, unless, you have a huge amount of décor that you will need to set up. If you are over 175, people usually have more décor or place settings to set, and might want the two-day option.
Second, when will all of your bridal party or family be available to help set up? If you have a big crew able to help on Friday, take advantage of it. Then you can do your rehearsal the same day after you set up and you will be all set for Saturday. If no one can come until Saturday, you might just want to stick to the single day when everyone is there so that you have lots of hands to help. Then you would be doing your onsite rehearsal that day as well if you choose to.
Third, ask yourself…do you want to set up on your wedding day? A lot of times, brides don’t want to do anything but come to the venue, get ready, get married, and enjoy the day – stress free from “doing” things. Rightfully so. In this case, do you have a good amount of people to do your set up for you the morning of your wedding? How much will you have to set up that morning? Are you ok with not being part of that process or is that something you want to do? If you want to be a part of it, will you have time to help before you need to start getting ready? These are all questions that you will want to answer before you choose a single- or two-day package.
Next, how much set up will be required for your event? Are you planning to put place settings at every seat? If so, how long will that take if you only have a couple people to help? If you have a lot of people, it shouldn’t take long. Do you have to fold linen napkins? Take a look at what you will need to do and try to gauge how long and how many people it will take.
I know I’m asking a lot of questions, but they all help you in choosing a single– or two-day package.
Price is another factor. If a two-day package is just out of the budget, that’s fine, you can make it work with a single day. This is where planning comes in.
Make sure you have an adequate number of people to help in the morning.
Have a game plan for what each person will do.
Know ahead of time what each table will look like. Take a picture and print it out so that if anyone has questions, they can look at the picture. Then once you get to the venue, set one table up exactly how you want it – then let your helpers loose to make sure each table looks just like that one. Again, schedule everyone a job.
Have boxes labeled so that when you get to the venue, you know what each box contains (sometimes it’s great to have a box for every table if you have a lot of décor that goes at each).
Rent linens from the venue so that they are on tables when you arrive to save time.
If you choose a two-day package, sit back and relax a minute. You will have time to do things more leisurely. Once the spaces are decorated, you will also have time to do your ceremony rehearsal, and even have a rehearsal dinner on site if you choose to do one. Then when you come in the next day for your wedding, you will have very little to stress about - just get ready and get married!
I have heard it from hundreds of couples. They say “the day went so fast.” And it does. Crazy fast. Cherish the process. Know that we at The Legacy on Possum Run are here to help, and no matter the number of days you have rented, it will be perfect. In the end, you will be married to your person, and it will be the best day ever.
